    About Autronica

Autronica Fire and Security is a leading innovator, manufacturer and supplier of fire and gas safety worldwide. Their products ensure safety in applications on land, sea and in the petrochemical, oil and gas sectors. They employ almost 450 people handling the complete value chain, from idea, development and manufacturing to the marketing, sales and servicing of their products.

The Challenge: Streamlining Communication and Enhancing Supply Chain Transparency

Before implementing LeanDNA, the Autronica team faced challenges around supply chain visibility in and cross team collaboration. The planning and purchasing teams were struggling to manage and communicate critical information about material shortages effectively. The process was manual and inefficient, with teams relying heavily on Excel sheets and ad-hoc communication methods such as calls, emails, and Teams messages. This led to duplicative efforts, confusion, and a lack of visibility across departments. As a result, inventory risk lists and shortage alerts were often sent multiple times, creating inefficiencies and hampering the team's ability to ensure the availability of materials needed for production.

"We were not able to see everything as clearly as we can now with LeanDNA," noted Thea A Tysnes, a Material Scheduler at Autronica. The absence of a single source of truth meant that key stakeholders, especially team leaders in production areas, lacked the real-time insights necessary to make informed decisions and avoid production delays.

    The Solution:

Recognizing the need for a solution that could provide comprehensive visibility and streamline communication across teams, Autronica decided to implement LeanDNA, an intelligent supply chain execution platform. The implementation revolutionized their planning process. Giving them the foresight and visibility needed to plan ahead and ultimately allowing them to lock in production plans for the coming week with confidence.

Even during a transition period when the main LeanDNA power user moved to a new role, the team continued to rely on the platform. "The LeanDNA platform has really been embraced by the team and is getting used by everyone," said Maxime Leleu, a LeanDNA Customer Success Manager, emphasizing the widespread adoption and positive impact of the platform.

The Results: Shortage Reductions and 100% Clear to Build

Since adopting LeanDNA, Autronica has seen substantial improvements in team communication and supply chain efficiency. The purchasing team is now better equipped to anticipate and act on potential shortages, ensuring that critical materials are received on time. The production team has also become more involved, with improved visibility leading to more collaborative decision-making.

"We didn’t have one platform that everyone used, but now we have a single source of truth with LeanDNA."- Thea A Tysnes,  Material Scheduler at Autronica.

The unified platform has significantly reduced the volume of emails, phone calls, and messages, streamlining communication and reducing the administrative burden on the teams.

One of the most significant outcomes has been the dramatic reduction in shortages. Autronica has reduced overall shortages by 46%. Additionally, the number of shortages per order has reduced by 73% and has remained stable since the reduction. The team has also improved inventory turnover by 12% since implementation.

Furthermore, Autronica has achieved a 100% Clear to Build percentage, up 27% since implementing LeanDNA, proving their new planning process and collaboration is making a significant impact on their supply chain.

“LeanDNA has helped visualize our data, especially for leaders who are not in the details all the time. I can open LeanDNA and show my boss the data in a visualized way. I can even filter by production line, something I could never do in the ERP.” - Thea A Tysnes,  Material Scheduler at Autronica.

    Looking Ahead

Autronica plans to further optimize their production planning process by extending the locked production plan from one week to two weeks. Additionally, the team aims to focus on reducing safety stock and fine-tuning inventory management using LeanDNA’s PFEP,  an automated ABC/XYZ analysis.

Autronica's journey with LeanDNA has been transformative, resulting in significant improvements in supply chain visibility, communication, and efficiency. With shortages drastically reduced and a fully optimized planning process, the company is now well-positioned to achieve even greater operational excellence.
